Experience
I have more than 20 years of formal tutoring experience ranging from short-term to long-term students across many subjects, grade levels, and ages. I particularly enjoy helping students improve their study and organizational skills in order to boost their success in school and thus their overall confidence. I love how this often translates to improved self-motivation for my students. I believe that as a tutor, it is my job to support my students in a way that allows them to achieve their goals. As such, I tailor every session to each individual's unique needs and situation. I am an expert at all topics related to language arts from writing to reading to literature and beyond. I have taught 9th grade creative writing, college level ESL courses, adult grammar courses, college freshman composition, and both beginning and advanced creative writing. I also have taught public speaking at the collegiate level and enjoy speaking before groups of varying sizes. I have patience to abound, and love working with diverse students. I am particularly interested in tutoring literature, ESL (English as a Second Language), and medical terminology. However, I love history, art, and many other topics. I am also an experienced homeschooling parent and enjoy providing guidance to other parents just starting out on the homeschooling journey. I particularly enjoy meeting students at the public library due to the abundance of free resources available there.

Hobbies
I love learning and sharing knowledge with others. It is a passion that has only grown over my 20+ years of tutoring and teaching. In my spare time, I love to read, write, and draw. I have published a few poems, but I don't submit my work regularly as publishing isn't my focus. I also love being a homeschooling parent to a great teenager and spending time with our two dogs. I love learning and am currently teaching myself Swedish, Turkish, Spanish, and Mandarin.
